European Fair Marks 20 Years of Malta's EU Membership

On the 1 May public holiday, we joined a cohort of organisations for a family-friendly feast at Ta' Qali National Park, on the 20th anniversary of Malta's accession to the EU.

Alongside Europe Direct CORE Platform, fondi.eu, the European Commission Representation in Malta, the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs, Malta National Parks, and a cohort of other participating organisations, our office took part in the European Fair. Several artisan retailers and craftspeople had their own stands set up at the entrance to the Ta' Qali National Park.

EP President Roberta Metsola and MEP David Casa participated in the event, arriving shortly after the stalls were set up in the morning to exchange words with the organisers and participants. President Metsola also addressed the crowd of onlookers with a short speech, capturing the essence of the occasion.

Singer Klinsmann Coleiro provided an enjoyable musical accompaniment to the day, performing on-stage for the numerous families that chose to spend the public holiday relaxing in the park.

The event boasted a wide range of fantastic offerings from the retailers, from artisan food and drinks to kids' crafts. Our stand was dedicated to promoting the 2024 European elections campaign, with together.eu freebies handed out to those who interacted with us and took photos endorsing the #UseYourVote message.

We also ran the simulation game at our stand, with passers-by involving themselves in the roleplay element and immersing themselves further in the dynamics of the EU.
