Europe Day is back and so are the yearly activities held in Malta celebrating it. EPLO Valletta will be participating in three major events across Malta and Gozo
- On Friday 8th May morning (09:00-13:00), the EP Office in Malta, together with SEM – Servizzi Ewropej Malta and the European Commission Representation in Malta, will be holding a number of events at City Gate, Valletta, with the participation of several EU-related entities. These include musical performances by the Malta Visual and Performing Arts School, an interactive game for the public, and a Treasure Hunt organised for students of European Parliament Ambassador Schools (EPAS). The entities involved are SEM/Europe Direct Valletta/FONDI.eu; European Commission Representation; European Parliament Liaison Office; European Union Agency for Asylum; European Employment Services (EURES); SOLVIT Malta & Intellectual Property; European Consumers Centre; Entitlement Unit (MFH); EUPA (Europass); Euroguidance; URBACT; Endeavour; Aġenzija Żgħażagħ; European Investment Bank; Eurydice. A press conference is scheduled at 09:15 to be addressed by the Heads of SEM, the European Commission Representation in Malta, the European Parliament Liaison Office in Malta, and the Minister for European Funds and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme Hon. Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi. The press will be invited via SEM.
- Also on Friday 8th May morning, (09:00-15:00). the EP office in Malta, together with JEF Malta, will be organising the yearly edition of the European Village to celebrate Europe Day on the University of Malta's Quadrangle. Various student organisations will be representing different European countries, while exploring various European cultures and traditions, while embassies, and other entities, such as EPLO Valletta itself, will be present to answer any questions in relation to the EU. Between 12:00 and 14:00, a fishbowl discussion “In the Loop with the Group” with resident academics hailing from the Department of International Relations, Public Policy and the Institute of European Studies will take place where youth will actively engage in an ongoing meaningful dialogue with one another on current issues affecting the European Union. This unique form of debate allows all participants to join in on the conversation at any point and argue their point of view
- On Saturday 9th May (10:00-17:00), Europe Direct Gozo is organising the “Europe Day Gozo 2026” event at Villa Rundle Gardens in Victoria, in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo as part of the Spring Fair activities. A variety of EU information and service providers will be present to share insights about the European Union, their organizational roles, and the services they offer. Among others, Globe Malta will showcase its latest project about the importance of water, conducted in collaboration with Europe Direct Gozo. Nature Trust – FEE (Malta) will also be participating, highlighting their ongoing efforts in Maltese nature conservation. The Visual and Performing Arts School Gozo will present a multidisciplinary performance featuring drama, dance, visual art, and music, including a live ensemble performance.
